"...organizations such as the Pesticide Action Network point out that commercial flowers, produced in countries such as Colombia, are the most toxic and heavily sprayed agricultural crops on Earth, The high profits of the transnational flower exporters are derived from poisoning the land and farmers, while forcing workers in the flower industry, often young women, to work 18 hour days for poverty wages during peak flower buying times such as Valentine’s Day." -OCA Article

Any dickhead with money can buy flowers to prove how 'sweet and sensitive' he (or she), is. How about growing your own? That involves true tenderness, patience and dedication -maybe some characteristics that people should be looking for in a partner. ...Other than dollar signs in their eyes. Just a thought, --my own sneering opinion.

Or perhaps find your own flowers by hiking to a spot where some particularly pretty ones grow. Find the beauty around you, and share it with a loved one. (Best of all, leave the flowers where they belong, and share the entire experience of finding them together!)

At least take the time to find out where the flowers you're purchasing are coming from... it could be that they're actually grown locally, by people who aren't slaves.

flower: i stand alone. all by myself. nothing can blow me down. i will bow down to nothing. all i see in my tall awesomeness.. is mine. i am king of all i see.

thats what the flower is thinking. wouldnt it be nice if it was really thinking that? that'd be sweet. :) its a nice shot. solitary.. but strong.

Those trees in the background just work really, really well. I don't know why, it might have to do with their tips paralleling the upwards petals of the flower. Not to mention avoiding the cliche of the 'perfect' horizon background. good work!

Mmmm- I thought it looked kinda silly at first-- because it wasn't the best imaginable background, but it grew on me after a few days. I'm pleased you like it!

Let me take this oppourtunity to say that I think you're a very well-'spoken' individual. I've read several of your forum posts, and I really respect your intelligent responses-- particularily the response to the "evolution is bunk" thread.

Here's to you-

THATS RIGHT, fancy pants! I've been here the whole time; lurking in the digital mist, creeping in every seedy backdoor, waiting like a mothership researching a hostile takeover. Sure, I can't abduct samples and give you anal probes but I CAN do the next worse thing....

...I can critique your art...

Ass. Is that you in the avatar, by the way? ----Or Leonardo? ...Alas, my kingdom has been infringed. The huns have shown their sneering faces at my doorstep. An unmistakable challenge...

...Time to gird my loins and hoist the axe- (or machete) -again,... ...I'll be watching.
